About Lisa Owens
"There is a sense of power and wonder in your paintings that is very appealing and rarely seen." Patricia Briggs, the New York Times Number One Best Selling Author wrote to me in regards to her recent purchase of my painting "Murder of Crows" - "I am very excited about acquiring this piece - your work captures the magic I try to embody in my own work".
When the painting arrived, Ms. Briggs told me that it was "absolutely magnificent - even more beautiful than how it looks on your website". She has a collection of original artworks that she has chosen to grace the walls of her office and I am very pleased that this signature work of mine is included among them.
Art is my life. I live and breathe it. From the initial spark of an idea, to the first line, and on to the final layer, the creation of an oil painting is an intoxicating experience. I absolutely love it.
My goal as a traditional painter is to merge the contemporary world in which I am engaged with the art and techniques of the old masters going back to the era of the High Renaissance. My paintings are a combination of careful observation of the world around me and my imagination. The works I create are built of several layers of paint carefully manipulated in order to obtain a finished product that is true to real life while retaining the look of a painting. In a world where we are constantly bombarded visually my intention is to provide the viewer with something to take them out of the ordinary or to look at the ordinary in a new and refreshing way.
I am a second generation artist schooled in classical realism and a retired classical dressage rider and coach. My mother, who had majored in art while in college, encouraged me at an early age to learn the principles of art.
I AM AVAILABLE FOR COMMISSIONS. Please contact me through this site.
I teach intermediate through advanced artists at Pasco Fine Arts Council in New Port Richey, Florida.
I am an award winning artist and my work has been on exhibition and hangs in numerous private collections across the United States and Europe.
